Summer Fitness Classes
Only 5 sessions left of our summer fitness class! TrainerAlheim will be at Smith Park on Tuesdays at 6 PM and Saturdays at 12 (noon). Classes are free for residents and $5 for non-residents. Get the ultimate 70’s musical experience as Strung Out-Chicago performs this Wednesday, July 21 at Music in the Park from 6 PM – 9 PM in Veterans Park. Water & Garbage Rate Adjustments Starting July 1, 2021
Due to increases in water rates from the City of Chicago, the Village of Lyons is implementing a variable water rate adjustment beginning July 1, 2021. The flat rate for minimal residential water usage (4,000 gallons) will increase from $20 to $22/month or $40 to $44/billing cycle. New LED Street Lights
The Village of Lyons recently completed the installation of new LED lighting to all of the Village owned and operated street light fixtures. Mayor Getty said that the new LED lights provide a brighter White Light, as compared to the dimmer yellow lights of the old light fixture systems, and will also result in a significant reduction in electricity costs
Alley Pavement Resumes This Summer
Village President Christopher Getty announced that the village will resume the village program to replace and upgrade neighborhood alleyways. Last year, 8 alleys were upgraded from loose limestone gravel to a concrete-based system that utilizes a new technology that reduces water pooling and safety. “We will be able to continue, at a minimum, replacing two blocks of alleyway every year
All Water Meters Will Be Replaced To Improve Accuracy And Efficiency
The Village of Lyons Board of Trustees voted in 2015 to replace all of the water meters for the village’s 3,336 water service customers including residential homes and businesses. Mayor Christopher Getty called the move a “vital upgrade” that will modernize the village water metering system, ensure accuracy in water usage readings and reduce maintenance costs through improved efficiency. Lyons Teams Up With Justice, Willow Springs For 911 Services
The village of Lyons is teaming up with Justice and Willow Springs for its 911 services. The villages are following a trend of other smaller communities in Illinois, many of which are doing the same thing in order to provide 911 services and not lose any funding in the process.
